When you are about to register for JAMB, either UTME or DE, some of the details you will be asked to provide is your email, phone number and profile code. However, there are some students who have registered for JAMB before and are wondering if they can use the same email, phone number and profile code they used for their previous JAMB registration for this year again.

Can I Use Last Year’s JAMB Profile Code For This Year?

YES, you can use your last year’s JAMB profile code for this year. Why? This is because your profile code is a Unique 10-Digit code that cannot change and since the code can’t change, it means you can use it for as many times as you want.

Immediately after sending NIN followed by a space, then your 11-digit NIN to either 55019 or 66019, JAMB will generate a unique 10-digit code (profile code) that contains your information, which was obtained from your NIN.

In other words, the details on your profile code are gotten from your NIN immediately after generating the code. And since your NIN can’t change, your profile code can’t change either; that’s why it’s called a “Unique Code.” So if you have generated a profile code, that’s what you will use for all your JAMB registration.

That’s why if you have generated a profile code before and you try generating it again this year with the same NIN, JAMB will still send you the same code that was sent to you previously, which is proof that the code can’t change as long as your NIN can’t change also.

According to JAMB, the phone number you used in generating your profile code is automatically tied to your name, and that’s what JAMB will be using to communicate with you. In fact, that’s the phone number you will use to check your results when they are already out.

That’s why when you have generated your profile code with a number, and you try to use that same phone number to generate a profile code for another person, it won’t work because it’s tied to your name already. So once you use a phone number to request a profile code, that same number is what you will be using for any future registrations.

Yes, you can use your last year’s email address for this year’s JAMB, specifically the one you linked to JAMB. Once you have linked your email address to JAMB, a password will be sent to that email address. The linked email, including the password that was sent, is what you will be using to access your JAMB caps.

That same email address cannot be changed, and that’s what you are expected to keep on using for any future UTME or DE registration.
