Many aspirants of the University of Ibadan (UI) find it hard to calculate their total aggregate, and this has caused a lot of unnecessary tension and more. Knowing how to calculate your total aggregate is very essential so one can know their stand and also his or her chances of gaining admission.
As we all know, UI is a renowned university in Nigeria founded in 1948, and over the years till date, they keep on producing one of the best graduates in different fields. Because of this, many aspirants put them as their first choice, which results in the university being competitive.
For this reason, we see aspirants trying their best to perform well in JAMB and also their post-UTME to get an upper hand in the admission process. However, the calculation of their average score is not left out. So if you still don’t know how to calculate yours, then you are kind of far behind, as knowing it will help you know your possibility of getting admitted.
If you are one of them that doesn’t know, then this article is for you, as I will be telling you the step-by-step process of calculating the UI aggregate score. But let’s start by understanding the meaning of aggregate and post-UTME score, as we will be using these two terms frequently in this article.
What is a Post Utme Score?
This is simply the mark you got after taking their post-UTME exam. Usually, the total mark is 100, for a total of 100 questions, with each question carrying 1 mark. Once you have registered and written their POST UTME exam, the results will be released in just a few days, and what you got after checking your results is known as your POST UTME Score.
What Is An Aggregate/Average Score?
An average score is simply the total mark you got after your JAMB and POST UTME results have been added, which is usually in percentage. Before UI starts giving aspirants admission, they will release what we call the cut of marks for each department.

How To Calculate University Of Ibadan (UI) Average Score For 2024/2025 Admission
To know your average score for the 2024/2025 admission process, you will need to do things, which include
- Your Jamb Results
- Your Post UTME Results
The total aggregate score is 100%, with your JAMB results having 50% and your POST UTME results having 50%. Now to get your aggregate, you will need to follow these 3 steps below, which include;
- Divide your jamb score by 8.
- Divide your POST UTME score by 2.
- Add the results together.
You can also follow this formula, which is
(Jamb Results ÷ 8) + (Post UTME Results ÷ 2) =?
It’s that simple. To explain more, I will be using a practical example below.
Example
Let’s say Miracle is a Computer Science aspirant of UI. His UTME score was 297/400, and his POST UTME score was 72/100. And UI also released their cut-off mark for computer science as probably 72% (just an example). Now let’s help Miracle calculate his average score so as to know his chances of being given admission.
Following what I explained above, we will need to divide his JAMB score by 8 and his POST UTME score by 2, so let’s quickly do that.
JAMB Score = 297 ÷ 8 = 37.125
POST UTME score = 72 ÷ 2 = 36
Now that we have performed the division, let’s add the two results to get his aggregate score.
Average score = 37.125 + 36 = 73.125
So this average score is 73.125%.
Alternatively, we can also apply the formula, which is:
(Jamb Results ÷ 8) + (Post UTME Results ÷ 2) =?
(297÷8)+(72÷2)=?
37.125+36=73.125
Whichever method you choose, you will still end up getting the same result, which is 73.125.
Now let’s compare it with the previous cut of mark I mentioned above as 72%. Since Miracle’s average score of 73.125% was greater than the cutoff mark of 72, he will definitely be given admission.
This is just all about calculating the average score for UI. If you have any further questions on this, don’t hesitate to drop them in the comment section below as I will be very happy to respond to you. Thanks for your time.
IS IT THE FORMULA UI USE EVERY YEAR?
