Can’t Find Your Name On The NYSC Senate List? Here’s What to Do Next

by EDUFEED BRAINS

One of the major criteria before you can be mobilized for NYSC is that your name must appear on the senate list. As we all know, before your name can appear on this list, your institution must have uploaded their senate list already.

However, there is a common problem corp members face whereby they still can’t find their name on this list even after their institution has uploaded it already. Such a situation can be so tiring and might even make you extend your registration for NYSC.

Now the question here is, are you also in that same situation where you can’t find your name on the senate list after your institution has uploaded it? If yes, then don’t panic because in today’s article, we will be giving you first-hand solutions to this problem.

So without wasting much time, let’s proceed.

What To Do If You Can’t Find Your Name On The NYSC Senate List After Your Institution Has Uploaded It

Below are the few things you need to do if you can’t find your name on the NYSC senate list after your institution has released it.

1. Confirm If Your Institution Has Truly Released Their Senate List

The first thing to do is to confirm if your institution has truly released their senate list. This is because some corp members check the NYSC portal for their names because of a rumour they heard from somewhere that their institution has uploaded their list already, which is not true.

Most PCMs are fond of believing rumours without putting any effort to verify such information. That’s why you will see some checking the NYSC portal to see if their name is on the senate list, whereas their institution hasn’t uploaded any list yet.

The truth is that if your institution hasn’t uploaded their senate list, there is no way you will find your name there after checking the NYSC portal.

So the best thing to do now is to reach out to your school’s student affairs to confirm if truly your institution has uploaded their senate list. If eventually you confirm that they haven’t uploaded it, then you wait till they do. But if you confirm that they have uploaded it, then you can try the other solutions below.

2. Check If You Have Been Completely Cleared By Your Institution

The senate list of an institution contains the names of their graduates who have been cleared and also eligible to serve. This only means that if you haven’t been completely cleared by your institution, your name won’t be on the senate list even if you are eligible to serve.

So if you know you weren’t completely cleared by your institution, endeavour to visit your school and submit all the required documents so as to complete the process. If you don’t complete this process, you won’t find your name on the list.

3. Check If You Have Any Outstanding Results

Outstanding results are one of the reasons why some PCMs don’t see their name on the senate list even when their institution has uploaded it. Having an outstanding result with your institution will automatically disqualify you from being mobilized; hence, you won’t see your name on the Senate list.

However, some PCMs have an outstanding result ranging from missing grades, failed courses, or sometimes, even incomplete academic records which they failed to resolve. Such PCM’s name will automatically be excluded from the Senate list.

So how do you know if you have outstanding results? Well, most institutions usually tend to display the outstanding results at the bottom of the accumulated result. So kindly check yours to see if you have any outstanding results.

If eventually you check and see that you actually have outstanding results, kindly visit your institution to resolve everything. After it has been resolved, proceed to making enquiries on if the results have been approved or uploaded by your department. This will enable you to partake in the mobilization process.

4. Check If You Filled The Mobilization Form And Also Filled It Rightly

Many institutions usually tend to ask their students (PCMs) to fill out a mobilization form, which will be submitted to the NYSC board. However, most PCMs usually fail to fill out this form, while some will fill it out but use wrong information due to mistakes.

Such individuals’ names might be left out and excluded from the Senate list when it is approved by their institution. So the right thing to do now is to fill out the mobilization form if your institution requires you to fill it but you didn’t fill yours.

However, if your institution requires you to fill out the form and you are sure that you filled yours out, kindly check the hard copy list pasted on the board to see if your name is included and the details are correct.

Some institutions usually upload a hard copy of their list so students can check for mistakes or name exclusions. If your institution doesn’t use a physical list, check their alternative method for verifying information.

Now if you check and you see your name is there and also correct, then you don’t have any issue. All you just have to do is to wait. But if you check and you don’t see your name, or you saw your name but your details were incorrect, then kindly reach out to your school’s student affairs and lay complaints.

5. Check If Your Biodata Is Correct

Having incorrect biodata on your JAMB profile, like a mistake in date of birth and age, can make your name be excluded from the senate list.

So the right thing to do now is to check if your biodata with JAMB is correct. If you end up finding any errors, try rectifying them as soon as possible so as to join the next batch.

6. Check If You Were Shifted To The Next Batch

Most of the time, a PCM might be shifted to another batch. And when this happens, the name of such a PCM will be excluded from the Senate list of the current batch.

For instance, if a prospective corp member has been shifted from Batch A to Batch B, his/her name won’t be included on the senate list of Batch A.

So what you are to do now is to reach out to your school’s student affairs to know if you’ve been shifted to the next batch. They will definitely give you more information about your mobilization form.

And if eventually you find that you were actually shifted, then just relax. When the senate list for the next batch is out, then you can check again.

7. Confirm If The Information You Filled On The NYSC Portal Is Correct

The mistake of entering incorrect details on the NYSC portal is one of the major reasons why PCMs don’t see their name on the senate list, even after their institution has released it. These mistakes include incorrect

  1. Institution
  2. Surname
  3. Matriculation number
  4. Date of birth

When you make any of these mistakes, the portal will automatically display an error message, making it look like your name isn’t on the list, whereas the fault is from you.

So kindly go back to the NYSC portal and carefully input your details. If you do that correctly, your name will show up if truly your name is on the Senate list that was released by your institution.

So in conclusion, we hope all the solutions we listed in this article were helpful enough.
