The Imo State University (IMSU) is one of the best state universities in Nigeria. It is also among the most competitive institutions in the country. And as we all know, when we say a university is competitive, it means securing admission to such an institution is not easy.
This is why as an aspirant of IMSU, it is very important to know how to calculate your aggregate score. Now some of you might ask, “Why?” Well, let me explain.
Just like other top universities in Nigeria, IMSU also pays attention to aggregate scores when it comes to their admission process. This means only aspirants with very good aggregate scores, depending on the course, will stand a chance of getting admitted.
This also means that if your aggregate score is low, your chances of gaining admission will be slim, which might result in you rewriting UTME next year. Now back to the question, “Why do you need to know how to calculate your aggregate score as an aspirant of IMSU?”
Well, calculating your aggregate score will help you know if you will stand a chance of getting admitted or not. This way, you will know the next step to take early before it’s too late. So the question is, do you know how to calculate your aggregate score as an aspirant of IMSU?
If not, then you are at the right place because in today’s article, I will be showing you how to do that step-by-step. So without wasting much time, let’s proceed.
How To Calculate IMSU Aggregate Score For Admission 2026/2027
To calculate your aggregate score for IMSU, you will need two things. They include
- Your UTME Score
- Your Post-UTME Score
Your UTME and Post-UTME scores will contribute 50% each to your aggregate score. IMSU’s aggregate score is usually graded over 400, unlike some other institutions in Nigeria that grade in percentage (%).
To calculate your aggregate score for IMSU, kindly follow the step-by-step process below.
- Add your UTME and Post-UTME scores together.
- Divide the results by 2.
That’s it. Very easy and straightforward. Now let’s take an example for proper understanding.
Example:
Let’s say Miracle, who is an aspirant of IMSU, scored 296 in UTME and 256 in Post-UTME. To calculate his aggregate score, firstly, we need to add his UTME and Post-UTME scores together.
Adding it, we will get
296 + 256 = 552
After this, the next thing to do is to divide the results by 2. When we added Miracle’s UTME and Post-UTME scores together, we got 552. Dividing it, we will get
552 ÷ 2 = 276
Therefore, Miracle’s aggregate score for IMSU is 276.
Now, how about O’Level?
Some of you might be wondering why we didn’t include O-level while calculating the aggregate score. Well, the truth is that IMSU doesn’t use O’level for their aggregate calculation.
However, this doesn’t mean O-level results are not important in IMSU. You will still need to upload your O’Level results in your JAMB portal because it’s part of their admission requirements. I hope this is clear?
So in conclusion, knowing your aggregate score as an aspirant of IMSU is very important, like I explained earlier. To calculate it, you just need to follow the steps listed above, and that’s all.
