The Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH) is one of the state universities in Nigeria that pays more attention to cut-off marks. In fact, before LAUTECH begins their admission process, they release their departmental cut-off mark for each of the courses they offer.
Now, to be able to secure admission into LAUTECH, your aggregate score must exceed or be equal to the departmental cut-off mark for your choice of course. This aggregate score is simply your overall score in percentage (%) after all your necessary grades have been calculated.
Although LAUTECH will help you to calculate your aggregate score before they begin their admission process, calculating it yourself rather than waiting for them will really go a long way. Aside from it helping you know your chances of gaining admission, it will also help you make the right decisions earlier.
Now the question here is, how do you calculate LAUTECH’s aggregate score? Well, in today’s article, I will be answering that question by giving you a step-by-step guide on how to calculate your aggregate score for LAUTECH. So without wasting much time, let’s proceed!
How To Calculate LAUTECH Aggregate Score For 2025/2026 Admission
To calculate your aggregate score as an aspirant of LAUTECH, you will be needing the following.
- Your UTME score
- Your O-Level Results
Your UTME score weighs 75%, while your O’Level results weighs 25%, making a total of 100%. You can see that for LAUTECH, having a very high score in UTME will boost your aggregate score significantly.
Nevertheless, to calculate your aggregate score for LAUTECH, kindly follow the step-by-step process below.
STEP 1: Convert Your UTME Score To 75%
To convert your UTME score to 75%, you just simply need to make use of the formula below.
(Your UTME Score ÷ 400) × 75
For example,
Let’s say John scored 300 in UTME; to convert his UTME score to 75%, we will make use of the formula mentioned above.
(Your UTME Score ÷ 400) × 75
So solving it, we will get
(300÷400) × 75
0.75 × 75
56.25
So therefore, John got 56.25 out of 75%.
STEP 2: Convert Your O’Level Results To 25%
There are 3 steps to be taken to convert your O’Level results to 25%. They include
- Assign the corresponding points to your 5 core O-Level subjects.
- Add the corresponding points together.
- Convert the results to 25%.
Now let’s take each step one by one, starting from the first.
i) Assign the corresponding points to your 5 core O-Level subjects.
To do this, you first need to know the corresponding points for each grade. The corresponding points for each grade in LAUTECH are as follows.
Grade | Points |
A1 | 6 |
B2 | 5 |
B3 | 4 |
C4 | 3 |
C5 | 2 |
C6 | 1 |
While anything other than C6 is 0 (e.g., D7). Now that you know this, all you have to do is to follow the table above and assign the corresponding points to each of the grades in your 5 core O-Level subjects.
For example,
Let’s say John wants to study medicine & surgery at LAUTECH; his 5 core O’Level subjects will be English, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, and Biology. Now let’s say he did WAEC and got the following grades below in those 5 subjects.
English Language B2
Mathematics B2
Chemistry A1
Physics A1
Biology B2
To assign the corresponding points to each of those grades, we just need to follow the table above. Assigning it, we will get
English Language B2 = 5
Mathematics B2 = 5
Chemistry A1 = 6
Physics A1 = 6
Biology B2 = 5
So after assigning the corresponding points, we got 5,5,6,6 and 5. Now let’s proceed to the second step.
ii) Add the corresponding points together
After assigning the corresponding points to the grades in your 5 core O’Level subjects, the next thing to do to convert your O’Level results to 25% is to add those points together.
From the example above, after assigning the corresponding points to John’s grade in his 5 core subjects, we got 5, 5, 6, 6 and 5.
So adding them together, we will have
5+5+6+6+5 = 27
So after adding it, we got 27. Now let’s move to step 3.
iii) Convert the total points to 25%
To do this, you just simply need to follow the formula below.
(Total points ÷ 30) × 25
For example,
When we added John’s total points together, we got 27. So to convert this 27 to 25%, we just need to follow the formula mentioned above. Solving it, we will get
(Total points ÷ 30) × 25
(27÷30)×25
0.9×25 = 22.5
So therefore, John got 22.5 out of 25%.
STEP 3: Add The Two Scores Together
So to get your final aggregate score, just simply add whatever you got after converting your UTME score to 75% with whatever you got after converting your O’Level results to 25%.
From the example we used above, we can see that after converting John’s UTME score to 75%, we got 56.25, and after converting his O’Level results to 25%, we got 22.5.
So to get John’s final aggregate score for LAUTECH, we just need to add those two scores together. Adding them together, we will get
56.25+22.5 = 78.75
Therefore, John’s aggregate score for LAUTECH is 78.75 out of 100%.
This is just all about calculating LAUTECH’s aggregate score. And as you can see, it’s not really hard. So tell me, have you calculated yours already? If yes, what did you score?
