How To Calculate UNILAG Aggregate Score In 2025

Before the University of Lagos (UNILAG) starts giving admission, they release their departmental cut-off mark for each course. This simply means that only aspirants whose aggregate scores meet up with their departmental cut-off mark will be offered admission.

Although the University of Lagos (UNILAG) will help calculate your aggregate score before starting their admission process, knowing how to calculate it yourself will be beneficial in many ways, rather than waiting for them. One of the ways it will help you is that it will let you know your chances of getting admission.

This way, you will know the next step to take, which will prevent you from taking JAMB form next year. So how does UNILAG calculate their aggregate score? In today’s article, I will be showing you a step-by-step guide on how to go about it, and by the end of this article, you should be able to calculate your aggregate score.

How To Calculate UNILAG Aggregate Score (2025/2026)

For every admission year, the University of Lagos (UNILAG) conducts a post-UTME exam for their aspirants, and sometimes, they use a screening exercise instead. The way UNILAG calculates their aggregate when they do the post-UTME exam is different from when they do screening.

So for this section, I will be splitting it into two. The first will be telling you how to calculate UNILAG aggregate score when they do post-UTME exam while the second will tell you how to calculate UNILAG aggregate score when they do screening. Let’s proceed!

Post-UTME Exam

When UNILAG conducts the post-UTME exam, they make use of O’Level grades score, UTME scores, and post-UTME scores to get the total aggregate score of a candidate. The O’Level grades score weighs 20%, the post-UTME score weighs 30%, while the UTME score weighs 50%, which gives a total of 100%.

Below is a step-by-step guide on how you can calculate your aggregate score if UNILAG conducts the post-UTME exam.

STEP 1: Calculate Your O’Level Grades Score

To do this, you need to bring out your 5 core O’Level subjects and sum up their corresponding grade points together. The points for all grades are as follows.

A1 = 4.0 points
B2 = 3.5 points
B3 = 3.2 points
C4 = 2.8 points
C5 = 2.4 points
C6 = 2.9 points

Let’s take an example. If Miracle wants to study nursing at UNILAG, his 5 core O’Level subjects will be Mathematics, English, Physics, Chemistry, and Biology. Let’s say he did WAEC, and the grades he got for those 5 subjects are as follows.

Mathematics = B2
English = A1
Biology = A1
Chemistry = B3
Physics = B2

To calculate his O’Level grades score, we will first have to list out the corresponding points for the grade in his 5 core O’Level subjects before summing them up like I explained above. So from his results above

Mathematics = B2 (3.5)
English = A1 (4.0)
Biology = A1 (4.0)
Chemistry = B3 (3.2)
Physics = B2 (3.5)

Now let’s add them up.

3.5 + 4.0 + 4.0 + 3.2 + 3.5 = 18.2

Therefore, Miracle’s O’Level grades score is 18.2% out of 20%.

STEP 2: Calculate Your UTME Score

To calculate this, just simply divide your UTME score by 8.

For example

Let’s say Miracle scored 297 in UTME; to calculate his UTME score, we just have to simply divide 297 by 8. So let’s do it.

297 ÷ 8 = 37.125

Therefore, Miracle’s UTME score is 37.125% out of 50%.

STEP 3: Know Your Post-UTME Score

The post UTME score is usually released after writing the exam, and your results will show how many percentage points you got out of 30%.

So let’s say Miracle got 21% out of 30% in his post-UTME exam.

STEP 4: Add your O’Level grades score, UTME score, and post-UTME score together.

From what we calculated above, Miracle’s score is as follows.

O’Level grades score = 18.2%
UTME Score = 37.125%
Post UTME Score = 21%

So let’s add them up.

18.2 + 37.125 + 21% = 76.325%

Therefore, Miracle’s aggregate score is 76.325%.

Now how about if UNILAG uses screening? How then do we calculate the aggregate? Let’s find out.

Screening

When UNILAG does screening instead of post-UTME exam, they make use of O’Level grades score and UTME score to get the total aggregate of a candidate. The O’Level grades score weighs 50%, while the UTME score weighs 50%, which gives a total of 100%.

Below is a step-by-step guide on how you can calculate your aggregate score if UNILAG does screening.

STEP 1: Calculate Your O’Level Grades Score

To do this, just simply add up the corresponding grade points for the grades in your 5 core O’Level subjects. The points for each grade when UNILAG does screening are as follows.

A1 = 10 points
B2 = 9 points
B3 = 8 points
C4 = 7 points
C5 = 6 points
C6 = 5 points

For example

If Micheal wants to study mechanical engineering at UNILAG, his 5 core O’Level subjects will be mathematics, English, physics, chemistry, and maybe further mathematics. Imagine the grade he got in each of all those subjects in WAEC is

Mathematics = A1
English Language = C4
Physics = A1
Chemistry = B2
Further Mathematics = A1

To get his O’Level grades score, we will have to list out the corresponding points for each of the grades before adding them up. Let’s do it.

Mathematics = A1 (10)
English Language = C4 (7)
Physics = A1 (10)
Chemistry = B2 (9)
Further Mathematics = A1 (10)

Now let’s add the points.

10 + 7 + 10 + 9 + 10 = 46%

So Michael’s O’Level grades score is 46% out of 50%.

STEP 2: Calculate Your UTME Score

This is done by simply dividing your UTME score by 8.

Let’s say Micheal got 320 in UTME; to get his UTME score, we just need to divide 320 by 8. So let’s solve it.

320 ÷ 8 = 40

This means Michael’s UTME score is 40% out of 50%.

STEP 3: Add your O’Level grades score and your UTME score together.

From what we calculated above, Michael’s O’Level grades score is 46%, while his UTME score is 40%. Now let’s add the two together.

46 + 40 = 86

Therefore, Michael’s aggregate score is 86%.

This is just how to calculate the University of Lagos (UNILAG) aggregate score. And as you can see, it’s so simple and very easy to comprehend. Do you have any questions?
