The JAMB CAPS (Central Admissions Processing System) is a system created by the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) to help aspirants manage their admission more easily and transparently.
With the JAMB CAPS, you can do many things, like
- Checking your admission status
- Accepting and Rejecting Admission Offers
- Checking your transfer offer and
- Checking your marketplace offer.
However, for today’s article, I will be focusing on the first feature of the JAMB CAPS listed above, which is checking your admission status. Now, what does it mean to check your admission status?
Checking your admission status means trying to know the current state of your admission. In other words, it means trying to know if you have been offered admission or not. Now the question here is, how do you check your admission status on your JAMB CAPS?
Well, in today’s article, I will be telling you how to do that step-by-step. But before that, I would like you to understand something. On the JAMB CAPS, you will find 3 different kinds of admission status. They include
- Regular Admission Status
The Regular Admission Status is meant for both UTME and Direct Entry candidates.
- SANDWICH/NOUN/PT/DLI Admission Status
The SANDWICH/NOUN/PT/DLI Admission Status is meant for SANDWICH (Sandwich programme), NOUN (National Open University Of Nigeria), PT (Part Time), and DLI (Distance Learning Institute) candidates.
- Undisclosed (CUIIA) Admission status
The Undisclosed (CUIIA) Admission status is meant for those who applied for Undisclosed Admission.
The category you fall under will determine which admission status you are to check during the process of checking your admission status. This might sound weird now, but as we go on, you will understand what I’m actually trying to say. So let’s proceed to the main topic, which is discussing how to check your admission status.
How To Check Admission Status On JAMB CAPS 2025/2026
To check your admission status on your JAMB CAPS, kindly follow the step-by-step process below.
STEP 1: Visit the JAMB Portal
To visit the JAMB portal, kindly use this link: (https://efacility.jamb.gov.ng). After the portal loads, you should see something like the screenshot below.

STEP 2: Login
To log in, simply fill in your email address and password. The email address you are to fill in is the same one you used to register for JAMB, while the password you are to fill in is the one sent to your email immediately after registering for JAMB.
The password usually begins with “cand” followed by a combination of both numbers and alphabets. Just in case you have forgotten your password, you can reset it by clicking on the text that says, “Forgot your password? Click here to reset it.”
After clicking it, it will take you to another page where you will be asked to fill in your email address. After filling it, click on the “Password Reset” button. Immediately after clicking it, a new password will be sent to your email immediately, which you can now use to log in.
Below are three screenshots of the password reset process, like I explained earlier.

After finally inputting your correct email and password as stated above, simply click on LOGIN. See screenshot below.

STEP 3: Click On The “Check Admission Status” Button.
After logging in successfully, look for the “Check Admission Status” button and click it. If you are using a mobile phone like me, you might have to scroll down a bit to see the button. See screenshot below.

STEP 4: Select Year
After clicking the “Check Admission Status” button, you will be taken to a new page. The first thing you need to do on this page is to select the correct year. See screenshot below.

STEP 5: Click On “Access My Caps”
On that same page, you will see a button below that says “Access My Caps”; kindly click on it. See screenshot below.

STEP 6: Select Your Corresponding Admission Status
Earlier in this article, I explained that there are three different types of admission status on the JAMB CAPS, and I also explained who each of them is meant for. All you have to do here now is select the corresponding one.
If you are a UTME/DE applicant, you are to select the “Regular Admission Status” button; if you are a SANDWICH/NOUN/PT/DLI aspirant, you are to select the “SANDWICH/NOUN/PT/DLI Admission Status” button; while if you applied for Undisclosed Admission, you are to select the “Undisclosed (CUIIA) Admission Status” button.
After selecting the right button, a new page will load where you will then see your admission status.
See screenshot below.

So that’s how to check your admission status on JAMB CAPS.
Now after checking your admission status, there are three status messages you might encounter. They include
- Not Admitted
When you see “Not Admitted” as the status message, it simply means you haven’t been considered for admission. I explained more about what ‘Not Admitted‘ means in one of our articles, and I will suggest you go through it for in-depth understanding.
- Admission In Progress
When you see Admission In Progress (AIP), it means your institution has recommended your name to JAMB for admission, and JAMB is still verifying your details. I also explained more about what admission in process means in one of our articles, and I will also suggest you read it.
- Admitted
If you see ‘Admitted’, it simply means JAMB has offered you admission already, which is left for you to either accept or reject.
So in conclusion, checking your admission status on the JAMB CAPS is not hard. All you have to do is to follow the step-by-step process listed above, and you will be fine. If you encounter any problem during the process, don’t hesitate to drop them in the comment section below, and we will gladly help you out. Thank you for reading this article.
