The process of getting admission with Direct Entry (DE) into tertiary institutions in Nigeria has recently become more complex. In fact, most DE applicants will end up losing their admission because they don’t know the next step to take.

One of the major problems DE applicants face is their NIPED status showing “Yet to be cleared” with the reason “Awaiting Verification.” Since JAMB introduced the “No Verification, No Admission” policy, all DE applicants’s A’Level results need to be verified before they can be eligible to be processed for DE admission into their desired institution.

To be specific, JAMB needs to independently verify your A’Level results by contacting your awarding institution. And once this process is completed, your NIPED status will change to “Cleared and Verified,” and without this, you are not eligible for direct entry admission.

But what if I told you that you are doing the wrong thing if you are only just folding your hands and waiting for your NIPED status to change to “Cleared and Verified” without doing anything? Do you know that both JAMB, your school, and you have a role to play in this verification process?

If these three (3) parties aren’t involved, your NIPED status will likely not change to verified even if you wait for ages. So the question here is, “What exactly is your role?” or “What are the actions you need to take before your NIPED status changes to Cleared and Verified?”.

If you are eager to know, then just relax because in this article, I will be telling you what you need to do in order to make your NIPED status change from “Yet to Be Cleared” to “Cleared and Verified.” But before we proceed, I will like you to understand how this A’Level results verification process and NIPED status work; this will help you understand what will be discussed later on in this article.

How Does A’Level Results Verification And NIPED Status Work?

The thing here is that JAMB will independently verify your A’Level results by contacting your awarding institution. Once JAMB has checked and confirmed that your result is authentic, they will contact your school through their mail.

It didn’t just stop there; your school also needs to check their mail and confirm your results. After this process is done successfully, JAMB will send you a verification email or SMS then your NIPED status will then change to “Cleared and Verified.”

From this brief explanation, you can see that both JAMB and your school can cause delay. Well, this is where our solution comes in, as explained below.

Before you proceed further, please NOTE that if you used or uploaded fake A’Level results, you can’t get verified, and none of the steps listed below can work for you. But if yours is authentic, just follow the steps below, and your NIPED status will change to “Cleared and Verified” in due time.

What To Do If Your NIPED Status Is Showing “Yet To Be Cleared” or “Awaiting Verification”

The next step you are to take to resolve this depends on two things. They include

1. If You Have Received a Verification Email/SMS From JAMB

If you have received a verification email and your NIPED status is still showing “Yet to be cleared” or “Awaiting verification” when activated, all you have to do is to wait.

This is because the issue is from JAMB, as they have not fully activated the NIPED STATUS. Not fully activated in the sense that they have not updated the approval they received from schools to the NIPED yet.

Recently, many Direct Entry candidates are experiencing this issue, especially those using ND, HND and BSC. So if you fall under this category, you only need to wait patiently for JAMB.

2. If You Haven’t Received Any Verification Email/SMS From JAMB

If you haven’t received any verification email from JAMB, then follow the step-by-step process below.

1 Get In Touch With JAMB

There are 2 main ways of getting in touch with JAMB, and they include.

• Visiting the JAMB office

One way of getting in touch with JAMB is by visiting any of their offices; it will be preferable if you visit the one close to you. In fact, visiting the JAMB office is better because this way you would be able to talk with their staff one-on-one and things would be sorted out easily.

Now what exactly are you going to do when you get there? Since JAMB needs to take the first action by contacting your school through mail, you can go to the JAMB office and make a complaint.

You can ask them why they haven’t sent any mail to your previous institution. JAMB staffs at the office, depending on the branch, will immediately help you check. If they have sent the mail, they will inform you. Also, if they haven’t, you can ask them what is delaying.

But from what I have seen so far, they will help you check it and in no time will send a mail to your previous institution. I have seen a couple of students who also went to the JAMB office, and it didn’t take long for them to send mail to their previous institution. And those who JAMB has sent mail to their previous institution already were informed on their arrival.

• Contacting JAMB Support

You can get in touch with JAMB by contacting their support. JAMB has a support page where you can submit all complaints concerning A’Level results verification. All you need to do is visit HERE, fill in the information, and submit your complaint. It will take JAMB 24 to 48 hours to respond to you.

Before submitting your complaints, make sure all the details you provided are correct. Also, don’t forget to explain in detail your current situation and wait for their response through the email address you filled out before submitting the complaint.

The purpose of contacting JAMB is just to confirm if a mail has been sent to your previous institution yet before moving to step 2. Please note that moving to step 2 below without confirming if JAMB has sent a mail by going to the JAMB office as instructed MIGHT just be a waste of time. Now let’s proceed to step 2.

2 Visit Your Previous Institution Admission Office

The next step to take after going to the JAMB office as instructed in step 1 is to visit your previous institution’s Admission Office. Like I said, don’t go there if you aren’t sure if a mail has been sent already because you MIGHT end up wasting your time.

When you get there, tell them that JAMB has sent a mail to them already and you want your A’Level results verified. In fact, it’s your job to be visiting your previous institution regularly to check if a mail has been sent to them already so your A’Level can get verified. But to me, visiting there regularly without assurance that a mail has been sent to them is just a waste of resources.

It’s better you get in touch with JAMB by visiting their office or contacting their support to confirm first before proceeding to your previous institution’s ICT center. In continuation, your previous institution, will then check; once they see the mail, they will verify your A’Level results immediately after authentication.

After it has been verified, JAMB will send you a verification email or SMS. Your NIPED status will then change from “Yet To Be Cleared” or “Awaiting Verification” to “Cleared and Verified” in a few days. Then you can now be eligible to be processed for DE admission into your preferred choice of institution. 
 
The truth is that immediately after your DE registration, JAMB has already contacted your institution concerning the issue, but the reason why I suggest you contact JAMB first is that, when most people go to their institution admission office directly and they get some reports like they didn’t receive any mail. So it’s best you get in touch with JAMB first, like I have explained earlier.
