There are so many errors students get while trying to generate their profile code, and one of them is the “pexpired” error. Immediately after sending NIN followed by a space and then your 11-digit NIN to 55019 or 66019, you are supposed to receive a response containing your profile code in a few minutes.
But due to one or two reasons, most students get the “pexpired” error as response instead of their profile code. If you are one of those students getting this error as a response while trying to generate your profile code, then just relax because in today’s article, I will be telling you how to resolve it.
How To Resolve Profile Code “PEXPIRED” Error
There are two categories of students who get the “PEXPIRED” error as a response. The first are those who have generated a profile code previously, while the second are those who don’t have a profile code and are trying to generate it.
So to make this part more understandable, I will be dividing it into two sections; the first will be for those who have previously generated a profile code, while the second will be for those who are just trying to generate it for the first time.
1 Have previously generated a profile code.
If you have previously generated a profile code, maybe for your last JAMB, and you are getting the “pexpired” error, simply send RESEND to 55019 or 66019 depending on the one you used previously with the same phone number.
This was the same response JAMB gave to a candidate on X (formerly Twitter) who was getting this “PEXPIRED” error while trying to generate a profile code for his brother. See the screenshot below.

From the screenshot above, it is evident that only candidates who have previously generated a profile code before, probably for their previous JAMB registration, and try to generate it again are expected to get this error. A profile code is a unique 10-digit code that cannot be changed, and if you have generated a profile code before, that’s what you are expected to be using for all your future JAMB registrations.
And if by any chance you misplaced it and want to see it again, instead of you sending NIN, followed by a space, and then your 11-digit NIN to 55019 or 66019 just like you did when you wanted to generate your profile code for the first time, you should send RESEND instead to 55019 or 66019, depending on the one you used previously, using the same phone number.
RESEND is just like a command that will bring out your previously generated profile code. Now there are some situations whereby a student will get the “pexpired” error as a response even when it’s his/her first time trying to generate a profile code. What can you do if you are in a situation like this? This brings us to number 2.
2 First Time Trying To Generate Profile Code
I met so many students who were getting the “pexpired” error as a response while trying to generate their profile code for the first time, and almost all of them tried again later before they could successfully get their profile code. Mind you, they did everything right but still got that error response.
This also made me convinced that another cause of this error might be due to network problems. So if you are getting this error also and it’s your first time trying to generate your profile code, just try again later. It’s best you wait till midnight because at that time, the network will be very stable and the crowd will be less already.
So in essence, if you are getting this error and you have previously generated a profile code, just make use of that previously generated profile code, but if you have misplaced it or can’t remember it, kindly use the RESEND command as explained in this article above. However, if you are getting this error and it will be your first time trying to generate a profile code, just try again later.

I wrote JAMB in 2015, but I no longer have access to both the email address and phone number I used for registration. The phone number has even been reassigned by MTN to another person.
I have already done my JAMB regularization, but my profile code is not showing on my portal. Each time I try to generate it, I keep getting different errors such as *pexpired java.null error*. I have even tried doing it at midnight, but it still doesn’t work.
I have also visited the JAMB office, but I wasn’t able to get any help. Please, what steps do I need to take to successfully retrieve or generate my profile code?
