What Is Admission In Progress “AIP”?

Admission in Progress, also known as AIP, simply means that the school has considered you for admission and has sent your details to JAMB for confirmation. After JAMB has confirmed all necessary details needed and they see it’s authentic and it also matches your other details, then they will offer you admission.

By then your JAMB caps should change to “Congratulations, you have been offered provisional admission into…” where a dialog will pop up and you will have to accept or reject the admission. If you accept the admission, it will change to “accept,” and if you reject the admission, it will change to “rejected.”.

Also, during the process of JAMB verifying your details, if they find out it doesn’t match, your JAMB caps will change to “Not Admitted.” But cases like this are often rare, as most will end up being given admission after the caps have changed to AIP.

1 JAMB has not uploaded the updated list of admitted candidates.

The truth is that the institution will gather all the lists of people that are eligible for admission and send the list to JAMB. If your name is on that list, then your jamb caps will immediately change to Admission in Progress. So JAMB, who has received this list, will check every detail to confirm the authenticity of the candidate and if such candidate is qualified for admission.

If you are qualified for admission, your name will be added to the JAMB list of admitted candidates, and JAMB will need to upload that list before it can reflect in your JAMB caps. Once that updated list of admitted candidates has been uploaded, your caps will pop up a dialog where you can accept or reject the admission.

So the issue here is that sometimes JAMB might take time to complete this process, especially the aspect of uploading the updated list of admitted candidates, which might even last up to a week or two.

2 Failure To Upload O’Level Results on JAMB Caps

In fact, this is one of the major reasons why some candidates might see Admission in Progress in their JAMB caps for even over a month. This is because they failed to upload their O’Level results, which is one of the criteria for admission.

Some students used awaiting results during their JAMB registration because their results wasn’t out yet or due to other reasons. If you are among then you need to re-upload your O’Level results. I know patience is important, but once you see the admissions process for your school is about to end, you need to start looking for solutions. The first thing you need to do is to contact JAMB support, especially if your school has given you admission already and your JAMB cap is still in AIP.

Luckily for you, JAMB now has a support ticket where you can submit your complaint concerning admission issues. To contact JAMB support, you need to visit HERE and make your complaints. Please make sure you explain your problems in details; it will take 24 to 48 hours for JAMB to respond to you. You will receive your answer through the email address you provided when submitting your ticket.

2 Visit Your School Admission Office

This is because there might be a mistake somewhere; it’s either your name was removed from the updated list of admitted candidates or the error is from your school.

Whatever the issue may be, your school should be in a better position to identify the mistake and take proper actions in rectifying it. If you find yourself in this situation, don’t just relax. The reason why I suggested this is because things can still be done during the time of admission, so you wouldn’t start looking for a solution when it’s already too late.

So in essence, make sure your O’Level results are uploaded; wait for 2-3 weeks after it has changed to AIP. If the status is still the same, then you should visit the admission office of your school.

Even if your school has offered you admission in their portal, you still need to get admission in your JAMB caps because, without that, you can’t print out your admission letter, and your admission is useless.

Does AIP Guarantee Admission?

No, seeing AIP (admission in progress) in your JAMB caps doesn’t mean your admission is sure already. The only difference is that your chances of gaining admission after seeing AIP are 95%. It’s only in rare cases we see people’s caps change from admission in progress to not admitted due to the reasons I listed above.
