There are some cases whereby some students think of using different O’Level results on both their JAMB and school portal. A perfect example is a situation whereby a student named Miracle wants to register for JAMB.
And at that time, Miracle had already written WAEC, in which he didn’t perform well, but he just had to proceed with his JAMB registration regardless using his WAEC results. Then after writing his JAMB exam, he decided to sit for NECO, in which his results were far better than those of his WAEC.
So it was time for him to register for his school post-UTME, where he will be needing his O’Level results. So he thought of using his NECO result instead of his WAEC that he used during his JAMB registration.
Now the question is, can Miracle actually use his NECO result instead of his WAEC? Using his NECO instead of his WAEC simply means the O’Level results on his JAMB portal will be different from what will be on his school portal. Is it really acceptable?
There are several other cases whereby a student also thinks of using different results on both their JAMB and school, but the case of Miracle is just one of them. Situations like this can confuse students and sometimes make them scared, thinking their admission might be affected if they take that step.
Well, if you are reading this article now, then just consider yourself lucky, as I will be clearing the air, telling you if truly you can use different O’Level results on both your JAMB and school portal. So without wasting much time, let’s proceed.

Book Your Consultation NowCan I Use Different O’level Results on JAMB and School Portal?
YES, you can use different O’Level results on both your JAMB and school portal. There is no place where JAMB gave an instruction to candidates saying they shouldn’t use different O’Level results on both their JAMB and school portal, except if the institution that you are aspiring for gave you that order.
But at the same time, the fact that you can use different O’Level results on your JAMB and school portal doesn’t mean you should do it. This is because having different O’Level results on your JAMB and school portal will affect your admission.
Before any institution will offer you admission, one of the things they will do is to check if your details on their portal are the same as what is on your JAMB profile. And when they check and find out that the O’Level results on your school portal are different from the one on your JAMB portal, they will definitely not offer you admission.
What’s The Best Advice?
Now that you know that using different O’Level results will only affect your admission, some of you might be confused about what to do next. Well, don’t be; below are the things I suggest you can do at that point.
- Upload the better results on both portals.
One of the things you can do is to upload your O’Level results that you think is better on both your school and JAMB portal. Meaning you should use the good O’Level results for your post-UTME registration and then visit any cyber café to change the previous O’Level results to the good one.
This way, the results on both your JAMB and school portal will be the same, and you won’t have any problem during the time of admission. For those who don’t understand, let me use the case of Miracle to explain.
Miracle’s reason for thinking of using another O’Level (NECO) result for his post-UTME registration was because he performed better compared to his WAEC. Since using a different O’Level will end up affecting him, he can go ahead and use his NECO for the registration and then later on go to a cyber café to change the O’Level results (WAEC) on his JAMB portal to that of his NECO.
- Combine the Two Results
Another way to tackle this is to combine the two results. Uploading different results on your JAMB and school portal is different from combining results, so don’t get confused.
There are some people who wrote WAEC and passed 3 out of 5 of their relevant subjects. And when they did NECO, they did well in the remaining two. Such students can combine those two results and upload them on both their JAMB portal and also use them for post-UTME registration.
But NOTE, before combining any result, make sure you check if your institution allows it. This is because some institutions accept it, while some don’t. Even those that accept it sometimes place a condition, so make sure to do proper research before thinking of combining your results.
So in conclusion, you can use different results on both your JAMB and school portal, but it will end up affecting your admission. And the best thing to do is to upload the O’Level results, which is better on both portals, or combine the two results instead as explained above. Thanks for reading this article.
