JAMB and school admission not aligning has been a major problem for candidates when it comes to the admission process in Nigeria. In fact, for you to say “I have been fully offered admission,” it means the school and JAMB have offered you admission, respectively.
Without JAMB offering you admission on their caps, your name won’t be added to the matriculation list, and you won’t be able to print out your admission letter, which will be a very important document for your clearance. The same applies to your school; if they don’t offer you admission on their portal, that definitely means you can’t proceed any further.
Now you can see that both of them are very important, and if any is left out, then you should know that there is a problem somewhere. Two of the major problems candidates face during the admissions process include;
- JAMB has offered me admission, but school hasn’t.
- School has offered me admission, but JAMB hasn’t.
If you are one of the candidates facing this problem, then be at ease because in this article, I will be telling you what to do in situations like this. I will be splitting this into two sections. The first section will talk about the first problem, which is “JAMB offered me admission but school hasn’t,” while the other section will talk about the second problem, which is “School has offered me admission but JAMB hasn’t.”.
1 JAMB Offered Me Admission But School Hasn’t: How To Resolve
If you find yourself in this situation, there are several ways to resolve this, which include
i) Patience
Having patience is one of the best ways to resolve problems like this. Generally, school admission tends to take longer depending on the kind of institution you picked. Do you know JAMB admission is the most important? If JAMB has offered you admission, then the school would definitely do the same, just that it might take longer.

We deliver as we say – Book us now and let us identify what's delaying your admission too!
Book Your Consultation NowBefore JAMB offered you admission, it means your school has considered you for admission and has sent the list of candidates that should be considered for admission to JAMB for verification and all others, and JAMB was satisfied with your details, meaning you met up with the admission criteria, then you were offered admission.
If your school could consider you for admission before sending your details to JAMB for authentication, it means you have also met up with their admission criteria.
So if you have been offered admission by JAMB, then do yourself a favor by checking your school website to get information on when they will start giving students admission on their portal. You can now check. I met some students who complained about this, and I found out that their school hasn’t started giving admission on their portal, and they were already complaining.
So try to have patience; once your school starts giving admission on their portal, just wait for some time, as it will eventually change to admitted since JAMB has offered you admission.
ii) Visit the school admission office
Now what if you have gotten admission on JAMB and also your school has started giving admission on their portal and you haven’t been admitted yet, especially if their admission process is about to close? This brings us to our second solution for this section, which is visiting the school admission office.
This is because the fault might be from them; probably there was a glitch or mistake somewhere. Most of the people I met having these issues went to their school admission office, and all was rectified in due time. This solution works when they are about rounding up the admission process or it’s closed already (depending on the institution).
When you get there, just explain your situation to them, telling them you haven’t been offered admission on your school portal; they are the best in position to help rectify issues like this.
2 School Offered Me Admission But JAMB Hasn’t: How To Resolve
However, there are some situations like this where your school has offered you admission but JAMB hasn’t. Cases like this often scare candidates because JAMB admission is the most important and things might get complicated.
But will things actually get complicated? Not really, only in rare cases. But how do we resolve issues like this?
i) Patience
Rather than panicking unnecessarily, why not have patience for a while? Especially if it was recently your school that gave you admission on their portal. The only difference here is that after your school sends their list of candidates that are considered for admission to JAMB, they upload the list to their portal first before JAMB completes their verification.
So if you have seen admitted on your school portal, just keep checking your jamb caps for probably “admission in progress” or “admitted.”.
ii) Upload Your O’Level Results
Failure to upload O’Level results is one of the main reasons why some candidates admission on their JAMB caps might be delayed. O’Level results is one of the criteria for JAMB admission, meaning without O’Level results you can’t be offered admission.
So kindly check your JAMB caps to confirm if yours is uploaded, and if it’s not, kindly upload it immediately, and keep checking your JAMB caps for possible changes. According to JAMB, candidates who use awaiting results during their JAMB registration are to re-upload their O’Level results after JAMB.
Meaning if you used A/R during your JAMB registration and you still failed to re-uploaded your O’Level results even after the exam, you are automatically not eligible for JAMB admission. So the question you should ask yourself is, did i use awaiting results? If YES then re-upload it as fast as you can. If you didn’t use A/R there is no need for re-uploading.
But I will advise you to check again and confirm because some CBT center might tell you they have uploaded yours during your JAMB registration but when you check your caps you won’t find it. It may be intentionally or due to glitches.
I know some candidates might not bother to check because they feel it was uploaded during their UTME registration. Well that’s not a good practice, just check so you can confirm and know the next step to take. Who knows, that might be the reason why your school has offered you admission but JAMB hasn’t.
iii) Contact JAMB Support
Luckily, JAMB now has a support page where you can lay all your complaints, and this issue of schools offering admission but Jamb hasn’t is not exempt. All you need to do is follow these steps below:
