What Is An Aggregate Score?

An aggregate score is just like the overall performance of an aspirant. It is calculated by merging the performance of a student in UTME, post-UTME, O’Level, or more depending on the institution in which the total is 100%. In UNIBEN, your aggregate score must be equal to or more than your departmental cut-off mark before you can be considered for admission.

For example, if you want to study medicine & surgery in UNIBEN and let’s say the cut-off mark was 75%, your aggregate score must be equal to 75% or more before you can be considered for admission. If your aggregate score falls short, you’ll likely be denied admission no matter how high your JAMB score is.

So the question is, how do you calculate this aggregate score so you will know if you actually meet up with your departmental cut-off or not? Let’s find out.

How To Calculate UNIBEN Aggregate Score For 2025/2026?

To calculate your aggregate score for UNIBEN, you will need two things which includes;

  1. Your UTME Score
  2. Your Post-UTME Score (also simply known as Screening Score)

Your UTME score weighs 50%, while your screening score weighs 50% also, which gives a total of 100%. This means both scores are equally important; they contribute equally to your final aggregate score, and slacking in either can cost you admission. To calculate your aggregate score for UNIBEN, kindly follow the steps below.

  1. Divide your UTME score by 8.
  2. Divide your screening score by 2.
  3. Add them together.

Now let me explain each step one by one.

STEP 1: Divide Your UTME Score By 8.

For Example..

Let’s say Miracle scored 240 in his UTME, we just simply need to divide 240 by 8. So calculating it, we will get.

240 ÷ 8 = 30

So Miracle’s UTME weighs 30% out of 50%.

STEP 2: Divide Your Screening Score By 2.

UNIBEN conducts its own post-UTME screening exam (usually a CBT test) in which, after writing the exam, the score will be released, which is always over 100. All you have to do is divide whatever you scored in the screening by 2.

For Example.

Let’s say Miracle scored 70 in his UNIBEN screening exam, we just need to divide 70 by 2. Solving this, we will get.

70 ÷ 2 = 35

Therefore, Miracle’s screening score weighs 35% out of 50%.

STEP 3: Add Them Together

To get your final aggregate, just add whatever you get after dividing your UTME score by 8 and what you get after dividing your screening score by 2.

From the example above, Miracle’s own was 30% and 35% respectively.

To get his final aggregate, we just need to add 30%+35%. Adding them, we will get

30%+35%=65%

Therefore, Miracle’s aggregate score for UNIBEN is 65% out of 100%.

More Practical Examples of How to Calculate UNIBEN Aggregate Score

Ada and Moses are two UNIBEN aspirants:

Ada’s Scores:

  • UTME score: 300
  • Screening Score: 70%
  • UTME score divided by 8: 300 ÷ 8 = 37.5
  • Screening score divided by 2: 70 ÷ 2 = 35
  • Aggregate = 37.5 + 35 = 72.5%

Moses’ Scores:

  • UTME score: 240
  • Screening: 90%
  • UTME score divided by 8: 240 ÷ 8 = 30
  • Screening score divided by 2: 90 ÷ 2 = 45
  • Aggregate = 30 + 45 = 75%

So in conclusion, don’t ignore calculating your UNIBEN aggregate score at any point because it can help you evaluate your admission chances realistically. Thank you for reading this article.
